"History never looks like history when you are living through it".

- John W. Gardner

Twin Histories tell the stories of the Twin Cities' past through biographing not only places and buildings, but the people, stories, experiences, and events that brought them to life. The site aims to illuminate our shared history through fun and insightful stories that don't just tell of a place, but bring color to it.

Who Writes This Stuff??

Mike is a lifelong history buff who has always been fascinated by the past. One of his biggest passions, of course, is the local histroy of his beloved Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

In his free time, Mike loves to spend time outdoors - walking his dog Ripp, spending summers days at the lake, or camping to mention a few favorites.

To satisfy his love for history, Mike is an avid volunteer streetcar operator at the Minnesota Streetcar Museum in Minneapolis. Mike loves the outdoors, especially Door County, WI where he grew up vacationing, and Minnesota's North Shore on Lake Superior - a place he and his wife have fallen in love with.

When not writing this blog or researching for this blog, Mike works as a Senior  Customer Success Manager for a marketing software company.

Mike lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota with his wife, Chelsey, 5 cats Butters, Charlie, Eep, Thunk and Lumi, and dog Ripp. They own a 1924 St. Paul bungalow that turns 100 in 2024! Yes, of course they are having a party.
